Wedding Flowers

This weeks post is all about your wedding venue flowers and also touching on table decorations. When you go for your initial meeting with your florist you will put together a selection of flowers and foliage which reflect your theme, dress and also the venue. Once your bouquet flowers have been chosen then you can dispersed these flowers throughout the venue to link all your venues together. I’ve broken this blog post down into two sections to make it easier to understand, so let’s get into it.

Ceremony Flowers

Whether you are going for a religious or civil ceremony your flowers will be very similar and will depend on what you are looking for. The chair that face the aisle will typically have flowers attached to the chair. This helps to bring attention to where the aisle is and also adds a lovely pop of colour and softness to this area of the space. You could also line the aisle with petals too, if you have a flower girl she would be doing this job anyway. As the reach the end of the aisle it’s also nice to have something either at the alter or either side of the end of the aisle. The image on the right is a lovely dome of flowers and foliage that really soften and brighten up the room you are getting married in.

trees in church

If you are lucky enough to get married in a building with very high ceiling or a grand cathedral and are looking for a gorgeous way to decorate your ceremony why not look into having trees. I know it sounds really odd but if you take the time to pick out quite sparse trees with maybe some flowers in it then the outcome can be stunning.

Wedding Breakfast

Where ever you decide to have your wedding breakfast flowers will really help to show the theme of your wedding and bring some life and colour to the space. I have put together a collection of different ways you can incorporate flowers and foliage into your table decorations.

The most important rule for your table decorations is they either need to be bellow or above someone eye level. This way you can ensure that everyone can see each other, making conversation easier and allowing everyone to chat to each other. With this in mind you can incorporate flowers however you like.

For low table arrangement bottles, vases and lanterns make for great vessels to hold flowers in or around. You can pick out certain flowers or colours from your bouquet to great a colour scheme through the whole room either making it look unison on each table or adding some difference variations around the room. You will find if you add some foliage (leaves) into your flower arrangements the price will drop as foliage is a lot cheaper than flowers.

If you are wanting more of a statement piece then you can have a much large display of flowers. Tall flower arrangement will normally be held up by a candle stand, or something similar in shape and then had flowers incorporated into it. With a tall flower arrangment your find it will make an amazing impact the moment you walk into the room because they will be around you eye level when you are stand up.

If you are currently choosing your wedding flowers then Pinterest is a great way to gather some inspiration and show your florist what you are looking for. Go take a look at last week blog post all about wedding bouquets as that also part of your wedding flowers. I will cover table decorations in further detail a bit later on so keep an eye out for that. Hope you had a lovely weekend and I will see you very soon.

Summer Favourites

With the massive heatwave currently in the UK, and as I just got back from holiday, I thought its about time I shared with you some of my summer favourites. At the moment every weekend feels like a mini holiday with glorious blue skies and having to wear suncream nearly every day. I have found my skincare routine and makeup has been taken back to basics, as honestly its just too hot to have a shed load of makeup on. So here’s a mix of beauty products and my current favourite book.

Starting off with two of my favourites when it comes to my summer skincare routine. The first has to  be the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel. This has turned into my favourite cleanser for really hot days, as its so quick and easy to use. All you do is pop a small amount on of the cleanser onto your finger, add some water, lather it up and then apply it all over your face. You then massage it in until you fell like your skin has been  properly cleansed and then rinse it off. One of my favourite things about this product is that it removes makeup really easily and leaves your skin really really clean, without it feeling stripped of moisture. You don’t need a lot of this cleansing gel, so this littel pot will last ages, and I love that it doesn’t really have a scent. This is also a travel size so it comes with me on holiday in my hand-luggage.

My next skincare favourite will be of not surprise to you, as I’ve mentioned it so much on my blog, and it’s the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo. If I was stuck on a desert island and could only have 2 products, this would be one of them, I just can’t get enough of it. I religiously use this products every morning and evening and it helps keep my chin clear of any spots and has really helped clear up any scarring I have. I have been using this products for about 1 year now and I am amazed with how much of a difference this product has made. In my opinion it’s well worth the price tag.

Makeup & Nails

On really hot days the last thing I want to do is put makeup on. I tend to chuck on some mascara and lipstick, anymore than that and I feel like it’s going to melt off my face. The lipstick I am always reaching for is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes. This lip cream is the perfect lips product for really hot days when you want a bit of colour with a good amount of staying power. I love the colour of this lip cream and its so comfortable to wear all day long. This product is so creamy on the lips, when you apply it, and then drys down to a really nice matte finish. The perfect finishing touch to a summers look.

For nails I swear by the Nails Inc Nailkale Superfood Base Coat either on it’s own or under a coloured nail varnish. You never really think about it but our nails need looking after, just like our skin, so that they stay strong and healthy. I love this base coat as it’s packed full of vitamins and superfood to give your nails a powerful treatment to get them in the best condition. I love wearing this base coat on it’s own, as it is clear on the nail, and perfect for holiday as it protects your nails from drying out in the hot weather and becoming flakey due to over exposure to water.  This product is £15 but so worth it and amazing for your nails.

I have one bodycare favourite from one of my favourite bodycare brands and it’s the Sanctuary Spa Body Butter. I have been using this product for years, which shows how much I love this product. Sanctuary Spa really know how to make gorgeous spa like products at a really good price. This body butter is in their original scent and smells heavenly, it’s like a spa in a pot. The body butter is quite thick but it sinks in to the skin really quickly and doesn’t leave you feeling sticky or overloaded with product. I love taking this product on holiday as it really helps keep my skin moisturised and feeling super soft. If you really don’t like thick body butters then why not try the Sanctuary Spa Body lotion, it’s in the same scent but a much lighter texture.

Handbag essentials

One thing I always have in my handbag is hand sanitiser, you never know when you are going to need it, especially when you are on holiday. I have recently been using The Body Shop Satsuma Hand Cleanse Gel and OMG this stuff smelts amazing. It smells like you have just peeled a satsuma, which is really confusing when you are eating something as all you can smell is satsuma. The one thing I hate about hand sanitiser is most of them smell of alcohol and this one doesn’t, finally! The body shop have this product in lots of different scents and I think they are around £3, which isn’t too bad.

My last summer favourite has to be a book and I am currently reading Lily Pebbles The F Word. I have nearly finished this book and I don’t want it to end. I have learnt so much about female friendships but also about what type of friend I am to my friends. It’s such a fascinating book, which I never imagined I would get so much out of. One thing I love about this book is that it covers a variety of audience ages, from teenagers right up to your grandparents. I would highly recommend this as a present or even a book for yourself.

I would love to know what your summer favourites are and let me know if you would like to see a updated skincare or makeup routine maybe.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine if your in the UK!

Summer Date Night Style

I’ve just come back from a lovely holiday in Portugal so I thought I would share with you some of my favourite outfits. There will be a lookbook going up on my Youtube channel soon so keep an eye out for that. When packing for holiday I try to take a few dresses/playsuits for the evenings, so that I have the options to dress up if I wanted. I have three outfits which I think are perfect for a summer evening dinner or even a little date night.

The Floaty Tea Dress Number

A floaty dress is a staple in my summer wardrobe, it’s so easy to throw on and doesn’t crease in the suitcase. This dress is from Primark and I am obsessed with the tiny white poka dots and beautiful crossover detail. The dress cinches you in at the waist and then flares out into a gorgeous floaty skater skirt.  I love that this dress has two layers, a structured plain under skirt and then a gorgeous floaty sheer top layer, which means you don’t need to worry about flashing your underwear. I paired this with some ballet pumps but you could always wear some cute converses or even some sandals to make it look more casual.

I felt so comfortable and secure wearing this out and because it’s floaty you don’t get too hot in it. I think this would be perfect for a little date night or even a summer party and for £13 you can’t really go wrong. I think this style of dress is really classic and the pattern means it can be worn to any event.

White Lace Dress Number

Everyone seems to have at least one white dress in their summer wardrobe, as it’s so versitile and can easily be dressed up or dressed down. I recently found this lovely white lacy dress from Superdry, with a cute bow on the front. It has a zip down the side but also an elasticised back so it fits you nicely at the top and then flares out slightly at the bottom. My main bug bear with white dresses is how sheer they can look but this dress is made from a thicker materials, which also means it holds it’s shape too. One thing that drew me to this dress is that it has a large lace pattern which isn’t as delicate as other lace pieces I own. This means I don’t need to worry about getting something caught in the lace and then damaging the dress.

The other worry I have with a white dress, is that it can easily get damaged with stains, but you just need to look after it and be careful when wearing these pieces. I will probably wear this to a date night rather then too an event, as it is a bit shorter than the previous dress an it feels more flirty than sophisticated.

Cute & Playful Playsuit Number

The final outfit I wanted to share by far has to be my favourite, it’s a gorgeous playsuit from H&M. I have fallen completely in love with this and I am amazed by how comfortable it is to wear. Normally I struggle to find a playsuit that fits, as I am quite tall so they come up quite small on me, but this one fits perfectly. The shorts are long enough that they cover my bum (always a positive) and the elastic around the waist isn’t too tight, which means it doesn’t ride up. This floral white and blue flower pattern seem to be everywhere on the high street this season, so this is definitely an on trend piece, which I can still where year after year.

This playsuit if perfect for really hot days as the fabric is so light and floaty. I love wearing this to dinner in the evening or even on a casual date night. You can easily dress this up with a cute pair of block heel sandals or dress down with some espadrilles. Playsuits are something that everyone should have in their wardrobe, they are really versatile and great if you don’t want to wear a dress.

Keep an eye out on my Youtube Channel for new lookbook featuring all these pieces, its going up Sunday 22nd July at 10am.

Are there any pieces you have been loving for date nights this Summer?

My Everyday Makeup Staples

There are a few piece of makeup that I always reach for and they have ended up becoming my staple pieces and are my trusty favourites. If I am in a rush and need to quickly do my makeup then these are the products I will reach for.

If I am in a rush then I tend not to apply foundation, instead I just apply a bit of the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer. This concealer is brilliant for using all over your face, I find. It is suppose to be used under the eyes as it is an illuminating concealer, but I find its perfect for covering up any areas that need some coverage. This concealer is a cream consistency, which is so easy and quick to blend in whilst giving you good coverage. When I put on minimal make up I always go for a natural look, which is why the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer is perfect.

For cheeks the Glossier Cloud Plant in Dusk is my go to product, as it is so quick and easy to use. At first I found the product difficult to use, but now it is so quick and you can apply it with just you fingers. I apply a little bit to my fingers and then tap it in onto my cheeks for the perfect glowy blusher/bronzer. Dusk is more of a pinky brown so you could also use it as a really warm bronzer if you wanted too. The product is also really pigmented so you only need a tiny amount of it. I think Glossier makeup products are perfect for the natural makeup look.

With my minimal base done I pop some of the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye colour in Rosegold onto my eyelids and blend them in with a Real Techniques brush. I love using a cream shadow stick on days when I need quick makeup and they are also great for your handbag as you only need two fingers to apply the products. The caviar stick in Rosegold, is a beautiful champagne colour with a shot of shimmer running through it. These products are so creamy and blend beautifully with with your finger or a fluffy brush. If i have a bit more time I will pop on a darker powdered eye shadow in my crease to define my eye a little bit more, but I also love this look on it’s own.

To give my eyelashes a bit more definition and volume to put on some of the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir major Volume Mascara. This mascara is a great as I can quickly apply this to my top and bottom lashes, without the product transferring onto my eyelid. I love the formulation of the product, it is amazing at defining all my lashes and giving then a boost of volume. Another thing I love about this mascara is it doesn’t clump on my lashes, which is something I always look for in a mascara. I am also obsessed with the packaging, as somehow it makes the mascara so easy to hold.

The last products I apply is always a lip stick or cream, depending on what I am doing throughout the day. If I want more of a matt lip then I will always reach for the NYX Soft Matt Lip Cream in Cannes. I am completely obsessed with the product at the moment. I’ve never really enjoyed matt lip creams until I found this products. I love the formulation of this it’s really creamy on the lips and then drys down to a beautiful matt, which is really comfortable and not drying on the lips. This lips cream also smells of vanilla, which I love and the colour is a bit deeper than a typical nude so it give my look a pop of colour.

If i am looking for more of a lipstick look then I’ll tend to grab the Burts bees Lipstick in Blush Basin. I have been using the lipstick for a while now and I love that its a really creamy formulation with a satin finish. This lipstick will obviously last a bit less than the lip cream so I will usually throw it in my bag so I can reapply throughout the day. I think Burts Bees is a great brand for lipstick as they are made from natural ingredients that help leave you lips feeing hydrated after use. I also think they have a really good colour range too.

These two lip products are similar in colours but they give really different looks, which I love. I am always making slight changed to my everyday makeup staple but these are my current go-to’s.

Hope you have an amazing weekend!

Stunning Kitchen Inspiration

Over the years the kitchen has turned into one of the most important rooms of the house, as it is where we socialise and spend a lot of our time. With this is mind, when designing your kitchen there are a few things that I think are important to keep in mind. I have sourced some photos from Pinterest to show you some of my favourite designs and colour palettes.

General layout

The layout of the kitchen is very important for functionality and easy of use. You will be restricted in some areas, like where your plumbing and gas pipes are but these can be moved at an extra cost. The main thing people look for is cupboard space and surface area. The ease of use for the kitchen is essential and will make your kitchen more enjoyable to use. A great way to add in more storage is adding in an island, if you wanted you could incorporate your hob into it too, making a designated area for cooking. At the end of the day you need to design the kitchen so it works for you and incorporates all you needs and some of your wants.

Narrow Kitchens

One problem a lot of small houses have are very small kitchens. There are lot of simple tricks you can use to make this space look and feel bigger, whilst getting the most out of your kitchen. The first thing is getting the most out of the space you have, look at having a corner cupboard and include tall units at the end of the kitchen. This will reduce the amount of high cupboards needed, which will also make the kitchen feel bigger. Having your oven and microwave incorporated into a tall unit, will in turn give you more space on your counter top and give you another cupboard under the worktop. There are lot of different configurations of units, the best thing to do is to visit a few kitchen shops and get them to give you some suggestions.

Aesthetically a narrow kitchen looks very tight and crowded so there are a few things you can do to make it more pleasing on the eye. These include natural lighting, colour scheme and choice of units.  Taking a look at natural light, which is key to how a space looks and feels. If you have a really light and airy kitchen it will automatically feel more inviting and make your kitchen look more spacious. A great way to add natural light is through skylights either along the length of the kitchen or a couple dotted around. Another way to get natural light in, is to add a floor to ceiling glass door or window. This will add in a ton of light without cutting into your kitchen space, you can then use this for access to the garden too. When it comes to glass doors my favourite has to be crittal style, it’s a lovely mix of modern and industrial style. The more natural light you can get into the kitchen the better, it will open up the kitchen and make it more enjoyable to cook in.

Choosing your Colour Palette

There are so many colour palettes to choose from, all of which give your kitchen a very different look. With all these variations it can be very daunting and confusing to know what to choose. Your colour palette may be limited depend on what style of kitchen and cupboard your choose, but you can always buy kitchen cupboard and then get them painted in what ever colour you desire. There are two types of colour schemes I personally love, depending on the size of kitchen.

Clean & Neutral

Having a very neutral colour scheme in your kitchen, is what many people would call playing safe and looking a bit more traditional, but I personally think it’s perfect for when you have a space that needs lightening up. If you have your whole kitchen white then it will look very clinical so you need to add in some warm through soft caramels, taupes or natural wood. A key way to make a kitchen feel bigger is by making your top units white, or a very light colour to match the walls and then have a soft taupe or grey on the bottom units. You then need a accent colour, to add a point of interest into the kitchen, which you can bring in through your choice of hardware. My favourite is silver, as it reflects light and makes the kitchen look really sleek and modern. Worktop wise look at keeping it quite neutral, a white granite or even a light washed wood worktop could work really nicely.

Dark Blue with copper accents

For more of a bold look I love a mix of dark navy, white and pops of copper. The mix of colours would be perfect if you have a large kitchen, that can cope with a darker accent colour. I would only use the dark navy on the bottom unit, otherwise it will be too over powering and make your kitchen feel very dark and small unless you are very clever with lighting.  Using a light grey or white will help balance the navy blue allowing the kitchen to still feel spacious and cosy. By having all your hardware in copper it will help warm up the navy and make it feel inviting and cosy. Another media you could play with is white marble, this would look lovely as a worktop or even a splash back.

One last point I wanted to touch on is extending your kitchen out to the back. Having an extension on your house can be very costly (and planning permission is a pain too) but the impact it has on your house is incredible, you may also find it will add value to your house. If you are able to extend your kitchen you then have the landmine of deciding how you want to extend and what look you want. There are two styles you can go for, either you make it look like it blends into the existing building or make it a statement piece to the house.

I personally love the crittal style extensions, they look so modern and sleek with the grey/black frames and square details. I feel that they also look a lot nicer to the normal PVC white extensions a lot of people have, but its all down to personal taste (there is no right or wrong choice.) If you like the blur between inside and outside then why not look into folding doors, this will allow you to completely open up the kitchen and allow in a ton of light. One thing to keep in mind is if you want a glass roof on your extension, and you have a south facing garden, then it is going to get very hot especially in the summer months. Remember to keep your building location and geography in mind.

As you can tell I already have plans for a house, when we finally get one. Just remember you want your kitchen (and the whole house for that effect) to be a reflection of you and your taste. If you want to follow a trend then maybe add it in through accessories or wall colour you can switch up, incase you want to change it later down the line. Paint colours can be changed easily, you could even repaint kitchen cupboards if you want, but flooring & worktops are costly and difficult to change. It can take a long time working out exactly what you want but it is well worth it when you see it all come together.

If you have any questions or suggestion of other interior design posts you would like then let me know. Have a amazing monday and remember start the week as you mean to go on.

Favourite Scents for Summer

Summer has to be one of my favourite seasons for scents, whether its a beautiful perfume, a gorgeous smelling body lotion  or even an irresistible candle. I thought I would share with you my favourite scents this year and the brands I always seem to gravitate back too.

I love wearing perfume everyday, I just spritz some on before leaving the house. My favourite perfumes for summer has to be Jo Malone, the fragrances are stunning and they last all day. I was introduced to Jo Malone about 3 years ago, when I was planning my wedding and have loved them ever since. Jo Malone perfume smell so different to any other perfumes I have smelt. They have some how layered the scents such that throughout the day the scent changes and the perfume will smell different as you smell the various notes.

My top three favourite perfumes from Jo Malone are Peony & Blush Suede Cologne, Blackberry and Bay Colone,  and English Pear & Fressia Colone. All these perfumes are very summery and light, with a lovely combination of fruity and floral notes. I like wearing lighter fresh perfume during the summer and Jo Malone perfume are also perfect for layering scents too. Jo Malone is quite expensive but I personally think they are well worth every penny and the scents are so unique.

Moving onto body care and another Jo Malone favourite, which is the Blackberry & Bay body and Hand Wash. If you only want a very subtle scent the using a beautifully scented body wash is the way to go. I find using a more expensive body wash results in the scent lasting on the skin for a lot longer after leaving the shower. The Body & Hand wash range by Jo Malone is one of my favourites to use in the morning as its a beautifully bubbly body wash with lots of different scents to choose from. You can also use this as a hand wash too but I prefer using it on my body. If I want to layer some scents then I will put on the Blackberry & Bay Body wash and then spray on Peony & blush suede perfume over it, this combination is dreamy!

Champneys Summer Dream Rewarding Body Lotion is my current favourite, when it comes to body lotions. I love the formulations of the product, I actually included it in my June beauty favourites, as its really hydrating but not too thick (so ideal for summer.) If you like fruity scents then you will love this range by Champneys, it literally smells like a handful of summer fruits. Using body lotion is really important to keep your skin feeling and looking hydrated, it also makes your tan last a lot longer. I’m definitely more likely to use a body lotion if it smells amazing, its so quick and easy to apply and the scent lasts for hours.

I could do a summer scents blog post without including at least one candle. I have heard so many people rave about this candle and it’s the Aldi Luxury Fragranced Candle in Blackberry & Bay. This candle literally smells like summer in a pot, and smells exactly the same as the Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Candle. I only bought this candle a couple of weeks ago and every time I take the lid off you are hit by a gorgeous mix of fresh and fruity scents. If I leave this open in our bedroom then every time you walk in you are greeted by a gorgeous aroma, I’m completely obsessed with it.

I’d love to know what you favourite scents are this summer! Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

June Beauty Favourites

With June been and gone it’s time for another favourites post. I tried lots of new beauty products recently so this months favourites is definitely beauty dominated. So lets just jump right in.

I have discovered some new makeup products this month one of which is the Benefit Porefessional Mattifying Primer, which I have been loving especially in this heatwave. Wearing a primer on hot days, for me, is essential to keep my makeup in place all day and mattifying my skin too.  I’m not a great fan of primer that feels siliconey on the skin, but I love how this makeup makes my skin look so I can look past how it feels on application. I have this product in a travel size version so its perfect for traveling and a great way to test out the product.

Another Benefit products I have been loving for brows is the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil. This is the only product I use on my brows and it’s so quick and easy to use. I like having my brows looking really natural so I just use this product to fill in any gaps in my brows and I’m done. This products has a waxy consistency, which means it’s really easy to apply and it doesn’t budge until your take you makeup off.

My next makeup favourite is the Nude by Nature Natural Glow Loose Powder in 01. I received this product in my Christmas advent calendar and put it in my makeup stack thinking I was never going to use it, as I tend to not use bronzers, I was wrong. I starting using a bit of bronzer last month for more of a summer glow and have been loving this Bronzer. I love that this bronzer is quite a warm brown, so you can get away with not wearing blusher, and it has a good pigment too. I do find this product can be messy so I’m just very careful when I put the product onto my brush. I’m really impressed with this product and now want to try some more products from there range.

Moving onto nails and my current go to topcoat is the Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat. I love wearing nude nail varnishes in the summer, especially when I’m on holiday, but my one pet hate is when they start chipping after a day. I tend to use nail varnish brands like Nails Inc, OPI and Essie as their nail varnishes are long lasting and so easy to apply. The next thing I do is use my trusty Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat, as its a quick drying top coat that adds lots of shine and makes your nail varnish last longer. This product is about £15 but its well worth it, and it lasts for ever too.

I have a love hate relationship with body lotion, I hate applying it but love how soft it leaves my skin. With that in mind its amazing that a body lotion has made it  into my favourites, as it means I absolutely love it and have been using it all month. Champneys Summer Bream Rewarding Body Lotion is an absolute dream for the summer month. It smells of summer fruits and the scent stays on your skin for hours after applying it. It’s also the perfect consistency for those hot days, it has a cream texture (that’s not too thick) and sinks into the skin really quickly. My skin feels so soft and hydrated after using this product and I just cant get over the smell.

When it comes to soft feet one of my tricks is to use a foot cream daily, after a shower. I recently received the Australian Bodycare Foot Treatment, and thought I would give it a go. I have been really impressed with how soft this make my heels and how good it smells too. For some reason all the good foot creams I have used have mint in them, which I don’t mind. I tend to use a good amount of the cream, put it all over the underneath of my feet and then put socks on to let the cream sink into my feet. In the morning my feet feel so silky soft.

Do you have any product you have been loving recently or any products you suggest to try out next?

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

New Hair, New Me!

One of the things that always gets put to the bottom of my list is a haircut. I tend to get a cut every 6 months so I am continuously switching up my hairstyle and this month it was time for a change.

I was recently invited to Leah Durrant Hair salon for a cut and blow dry, which I was so excited for. I have been going to the same hairdressers for about 10 years, so I was excited to see how it differed to Leah Durrant’s Hair salon. I always get a bit nervous trying a new hairdressers as you get use to having the same hairdresser who knows exactly what you want, but I took the chance. I had such an amazing experience at Leah Durrant so I thought I would share it with you all and if you live near Chertsey then I highly recommend you going and taking a look.

Leah Durrant Hair Salon & Beauty Re:treat is located in the heart of Chertsey, with the hair salon about a 30 second walk for the beauty retreat. The salon has won awards in the hairdressing and beauty industry and has been a finalists in many awards too.

The first thing that really stood out to me about the salon was the beautiful exterior, the building is painted grey so it really stands out from all the other shops on the high street. I love that there are two bay trees either side of the door, it makes the salon feel really welcoming. Inside the salon is realy light and airy, with an open layout, which really makes the most of the space. The salon isn’t massive, which I like as it felt more welcoming and inviting.

All the staff where really friendly and I had Harley cut my hair, she did an excellent job. One of my favourite parts about going to the hairdressers is the head massage and I have to say this head massage was one of the best I have ever had. I love the cut Harley gave me, I wanted a long bob with a few layers cut through and it was perfect. I really struggle getting volume into my hair so Harley gave me some product recommendations and put some rollers in my hair to show me how you can easily lift your roots to create natural bounce really quickly.

I had such a great haircut and my hair is now so easy to style, I hardly need to do anything with it in the morning. I definitely feel I have found a hairstyle I want to keep, so I’m going to have to go to the hairdresser more frequently it seems. The great thing is Chertsey isn’t too far away so I think I have now found myself a new hairdressers.

If you live near Chertsey then definitely take a look at this salon, their haircut’s are really well priced ranging from £39-£45 and it was so relaxing. If you want more information then check out their website here. While I was there I also documented my experience with this lovely video so do make sure you have a look and click here to subscribe and see more beautiful videos.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

My Top Self Care Tips

Mental health is something I have touched on here before, as I feel it’s really important to get your mental health in a good place. With your mental health in a good place you will find the rest of your life fall into place, at least that’s what I have found. There are lot of ways you can look after your mental health so I thought I would share you my top 10 self care tips. These might not all work for everyone but you never know until you try.

Stop comparing yourself to others

The first important tip I have is stop comparing yourself to others, we are all different and brilliant at different things. There is no point always putting yourself down over what others are doing, because you feel you aren’t as amazing as they are, try turning those negative thoughts into motivation and inspiration to make you better at something. Someones life may look perfect from the outside but we all have our struggles and insecurities.

Don’t be afraid to say no

Saying yes to everything, especially in blogging, can become very exhausting and overwhelming, as it comes with a lot of projects to juggle and deadlines to meet. Sometimes its good to say no, if you feel its not right for you or you don’t have time. By saying no you are taking charge of you decisions you will make you feel so much better for it. Just remember that saying yes is good too, as it opens doors to new and exciting opportunities.

Take a leap of faith

Taking a leap of faith, whether it you personal life or work, is so good. At the time you can feel very overwhelmed and anxious but once you have taken the plunge you will then be able to see how much you have gotten out of it. Without pushing our comfort zones you won’t be able to grow, with risk comes the potential for great rewards.

Be kind to yourself

Being kind to yourself is something I always try and do. If you always beat yourself up over the things you have done wrong your find it will really affect your mental health. If you do something wrong, make a mental note of what you would have done differently and move on, don’t beat yourself up over it. I think we are all guilty of not being kind enough to ourself and giving credit to ourselves where it’s due.

Celebrate the small things

Celebrating success doesn’t have to be on major events, like a job promotion or anniversary, you should also celebrate the small things in life. This is something I know I need to work on, as I always feel something can be improved on thus stoping me from stepping back and seeing that every step is an achievement. Here’s a little list of small things to celebrate you could celebrate:

  • Being invited to your first blogging event
  • Going to the gym event though you had no motivation to go
  • Surviving Monday
  • Speak-up

Working towards your dream

For me having a goal to work towards really helps me stay focused and motivated. Everyone has a dream so why not start making little markers so that one day those little markers turn into you achieving your dream. Your dream doesn’t have to be extravagant, but its good to make it something you could achieve in the further, like owning a house for example. Sometimes having the little carrot in front of you really helps you focus all your energy and get the most out of your mind.

I have recently taken up swimming three times a week and its amazing how much exercise affects your mental health. Exercise is a great way of distracting your mind from life and purely concentrating on a sport, whether it’s 15 mins or 1 hour, ever minute helps. You will also feel a lot happier in your self as you are working out your body and therefore generally feeling healthier and fitter. Thats a scientific fact!

Set a Bedtime

Having a set bedtime and a good bedtime routine is something I have mentioned a lot on my blog and that’s because it is so important. You mind needs time to rest & recover from the day and for that you need to good peaceful nights sleep. It’s not all about the length of time you are asleep for but the type of sleep (if you have 10 hours of sleep but wake up every 2 hours you won’t feel as rested as 6 hours of continuous deep sleep). Everyone will need different amount of sleep, if you always wake up feeling tired then try going to bed earlier or create a relaxing bedtime routine to stick to.

Give Yourself Some Headspace

Having some time in your day to yourself and for your mind can make you feel so much better. Allowing you to reflect and let your thoughts free can really make you feel more relaxed, less anxious, and in a better mood. Try taking up meditation and mindfulness training. I recently started taking just 10 minutes every morning with my husband to reflect and listen to a Headspace session. Headspace make it so much easier to practice mindfulness and after a few sessions you can truly feel the results. Its also a lovely way to start your day.

If you have any other self care tip then please let me know and have a lovely week!

Summer Beauty Wishlist

Every so often I like to have a look on Cult Beauty & Feelunique to see what new beauty products have been released. Over the last couple of weeks I have been making a summer beauty shopping list / wish list of all the products I would love to try. I have a mix of skincare, makeup, bodycare & haircare. Enjoy!

I seem to be going through a phase where I have fallen in love with makeup again, so I have a lot of makeup pieces on my wish list. I only really wear makeup at the weekend and I tend to wear the same products, for a really quick natural look. I have a few pieces in my collection, which are new, and decided to give them a go and I have fallen in love with them. I think it’s good sometimes to inject a few new pieces into your makeup collection, so you can experiment and find some amazing new products. So here are the piece in on makeup wish list.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream SPF 50+ (£30.00)
Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow 40ml (£38.50)
Too Faced – ‘Milk Chocolate Soleil’ bronzer 10g (£25.00)
Urban Decay Backtalk Palette (£39.50)
MAC Eyeshadow x 9, Burgundy Times Nine (£26.00)
ZOEVA Rose Golden Luxury Brush Set (Vol. 1) (£65.00)

My skincare section seems to be dominated by Fresh Beauty. Fresh is a brand I have heard so many great things about and really want to give a ago. I have picked out the three products that really stand out to me, from reading reviews and trying a few in-store.

Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15, Bloom (£19.50)
Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask To Go, 30ml (£29.00)
Fresh Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream, 15ml (£34.00)

I tend to try out a lot of different haircare products, as I am always on the hunt for products that suit my fine hair. The problems with fine hair is that it lacks volume and can become quite greasy at times, which means you need volumizing products that are lightweight. I only have two products in this section of my wishlist and they both sound amazing.

Bumble and bumble Sunday Shampoo 250ml (£20.00)
Kevin Murphy Anti Gravity Spray

Body Care & Nails

When it comes to body care I tend to use drugstore body washes and then splurge on bath salts, oils and more luxury products. One way I love to relax and unwind is having a bath, especially if I had had a hard day at work. My favourite products are bath salts and oils so thats what I’ve concentrated on for this section. I have also included a nail polish from Nail inc, which is one of my favourite nail varnish brand. I love wearing nude colours in the summer and this one is stunning.

NAILSINC Nailpure 14ml Bond Street
THERAPIE Himalayan Detox Salts 100g (£10.00)
ECOCOCO Coconut Lavender Scrub (£12.00)
MIO Liquid Yoga Restorative Bath Soak ( 200ml ) (£26.00)

Nails Inc Nailpure 14ml Bond Street Passage (£15.00)

There are so many amazing products that I would love to try so here are just a few. I would love to know what products are on your wish list or even what other products you suggest I purchase.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and I will see you Monday!

Travel Beauty Essentials

With Summer holidays just around the corner I thought I would share with you my travel beauty essentials for hand luggage. I tend to have a little bag packed in my wardrobe so when ever we go on holiday I can get it out and have them all ready to go.

I always take travel size products with me, or decant some of my favourite products into small pots, it makes packing so much easier and your bags lighter too. All the products bellow would be taken on a short-haul flight to warm destinations, as we tend to normally travel to European countries.

Starting off with skincare and the first products is the L’Occitane Gentle Toner Enriched With Shea. This is one of those products I tend to use a lot on holiday and not so much at home. This products is a gorgeous toner, especially for hot countries. I love using it in my morning skincare routine but also to top up my skin throughout the day, as its so hydrating and refreshing. I tend to use this on the plane if I feel my skin is becoming a bit tight, due to the air conditioning and lack of moisture in the air. One thing I have learnt with flying is never put on hyaluronic acid before getting onto a plane and because it will dehydrate your skin, as there is no moisture on planes for your skin to absorb.

The next item I always take is a L’Occitane Verveine Refreshing Cloth, just in case I ever need it. Refreshing clothes are great for when you arrive in a destination and want to quickly freshen up before carrying on with your day. There are so many different brands who do this sort of product, but I love the scent of Vervine so alway have one of these on hand. Along with refreshing clothes I always take hand sanitiser too, just in case you need to washing you hands but don’t have a bathroom nearby. You can always get wet wipes too that can be used on your body and hands, if you don’t like liquid hand sanitiser.

Suncream is essential for traveling, especially for my fair skin, so I always take my La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL 50+ SPF Anti-Shine, in my hand luggage so as soon as I arrive I can thrown some on my faceI always wear factor 50+, even in England, and I still get a good tan it just gives your skin the extra protection. Along with my suncream I always make sure I have my sunglasses packed too, my current favourite are these by Guess.

Moving onto hands and I always pack a mini hand-cream from L’Occitane. L’Occitane Verveine Cooling Hand Cream Gel is one of my favourite hand creams, it smells incredible and has a lovely cooling effect. Even though this hand cream is a gel texture I find it’s still very hydrating, without feeling greasy on the hands. L’Occitane is a great brand to look at for hand cream they have lots of different scents and formulations, depending on what you are needing out of your hand cream.

Moving onto lips and a lip balm is essential for traveling, my lips get so dry on planes. I recently discovered Nivea Hrdro Care SPF 15 and have found it’s brilliant for traveling and really affordable too. I love how hydrating this products is as well as its lasting power, it last on my lips for a good 4 hours even with drinking. It has SPF 15 in it so it will give you some protection against the sun, which is always good. I also love that this lip balm has no scent and feels really balmy on the lips and it doesn’t melt when your in hot countries YAY !

My last beauty travel essential has to be  the Clinique Chubby Stick  (Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm) 06 Wopping’ Watermelon. This product has turned into my favourite lip products on holiday, as it hydrating whilst giving you a sheer tint to your lips. I love throwing this on just before landing and I also wear it in the evenings on holiday. It gives your lips a healthy pink tint and it has a glossy finish, which I love for holidays. because its a tint you can wear it all day and it will gradually rub away whilst still looking gorgeous. The Clinique cubby sticks are also great for traveling as its a stick formula, so you don’t have to put it in with your liquids.

If your going on holiday soon then hopefully this blog post has given you a few ideas of what beauty products you could pack in your hand luggage. Wherever I go, unless its a cold country, I will always pack the above items.

Have a lovely week!
